I have written music for Tamo daleko which is the melody, a harmony part and the chords, e.g. for accordion. I'd be happy to send you a copy if you wish. I don't know where the original transcription came from.

        Hello Vukadin: 5-VIII-2009

My name is Bozidar Kruzich and I play tambura, violin and piano. If you have a simple score to Tamo Daleko (with or without words) I would appreciate if you would send to me.

Thank you for your help. If you are interested, I have many songbooks from the old "Sar Planina" tambura orchestra as well as some of Ivan Hlad's old Jugoslav folk songs books. If you send an attachment, my email is

          Hi Bozidar,

Is it the Eastern European version of the tambura, like here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamburitza ? Or the Indian version? Anyway, I will email you about your song books.

          Todd

Hello Todd: Re: Small Tambura Shapes

The Indian version (of the small Balkan: Prim or Bisernica) is almond shaped with a long finger board. The Balkan version is also the same shape. However the Balkan version has another shape like a very very tiny Spanish Guitar (with a medium length fingerboard).

Most Balkan Prims or Bisernice have 6 strings and some have 4 strings. For real high solo melodies or Kolo dances, the four stringed version is used because they never play very much in the low register : (the thicker lower strings are eliminated).

Try the following web site for listening to Serbian Folk music:

Try the following web site for listening to Croatian ( Slavonski Brod ) - pick a year, pick a tune and then a long wait for your music player to respond.
